Ate dinner here late on a Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't too busy but there was a decent crowd. I got the soup and salad. The shrimp and corn soup was excellent. They have a pretty lengthy beer menu. You are sure to find something you like. Have been coming here for many years and we'll continue to do so.

Super cool rooftop bar / dining area. Right off of LSU’s campus. The mozz balls were great! The seafood lasagna was amazing! Also pictured are the alligator bites and crab fingers

Kevin was our waiter on the rooftop deck for dinner. We had a group of 7 from Boston who never ate Louisiana fare before, so Kevin brought us samples and we were able to place a few orders of appetizers and get meals to share and everyone loved it! He made this a great experience for us and we appreciate that. The food was just as good as the service.

The food was amazing. Cooked perfect and flavorful. They have a side dish of roasted cauliflower what stole the show. But what really stood out was the service.Louie the bartender was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Nicest guy! Service with him never stopped.

The Chimes was one of the places that was recommended to me by locals. The service was great. Oscar made me the perfect long Island tea. He also recommended the shrimp po boy with spicy mayonnaise. It was delicious. I would definitely recommend The Chives to anyone visiting Baton Rouge. Love the atmosphere, too.

The place had a nice lively feel without being overwhelming. I ordered the soup and salad and was very happy with my choice. The shrimp and corn soup was rich and flavorful. The beer selection is impressive, with plenty of options for every taste.

Right next to LSU. We wanted something that could be considered local, not a chain and not at New Orleans Pricing. Big comfy restraunt and bar. The neighborhood is better than Downtown New Orleans. A few homeless, the stores a little run down, but it is a college town. Plenty of families eating there. Oysters were large and came w8th plenty of horse radish, lemmons, crackers and cocktail sauce Gator bites delicious Pulled acoustic Beef poor boy with Fries was large portions

Located just steps from the LSU campus, The Chimes is one of Baton Rouge’s most beloved local institutions—a place where the warmth of Southern hospitality meets the energy of a college-town bar. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, with a long polished bar lined with dozens of beer taps and shelves of whiskey, a few televisions tuned to sports, and the friendly bustle of students and locals alike. It’s the kind of place that feels welcoming at any hour, whether for brunch, a casual dinner, or a late-night drink after a game. The food at The Chimes reflects Louisiana’s comfort-driven culinary spirit. The plate pictured, crawfish omelet with creamy grits and a warm biscuit, captures exactly what the restaurant does best: hearty, unfussy dishes made with care and a touch of local flavor. The portions are generous, the presentation simple but appealing, and the flavors unmistakably Southern. Combined with the friendly service and rustic wooden surroundings, it’s easy to see why this spot has earned such loyal regulars over the years. Highly recommended!

Typical college bar restaurant BUT this one has great service and delicious food! Definitely get the spinach and artichoke dip with the fried bow ties! We’ll go back next time we’re in town.
